The first walk of the year was eagerly awaited, with hopes for less disturbance than in the last couple of years. In fact, it was forecast as a 29 degree day, and had it been a couple of degrees higher, it might have been cancelled.
However, nine brave walkers turned up to enjoy a beautiful day and stunning scenery. We met by chance with the Plus group at the bus stop, but then separated at Palm Beach. We coped with the long flight of steps at the end of the beach, then proceeded to Whale Beach, where we found a shady patch for morning tea. A bit of street walking, then the major climb up Bangally Head, with the reward of lunch at the top, again with fabulous views.
On our return to Avalon ,hot and weary, but with an early finish, we found the surf club coffee shop closed, but enjoyed ( mostly iced) coffee nearby.
